Sorry I haven't updated in awhile.  I'm addicted to MySpace so I don't really get on this thing much.  But I thought I'd do something fun.......you know how when you were in elementary school, you had to do a little essay when you got back to school about what you did this summer?  I thought I'd give you a little picture story about my summer...haha!

I got to see the Black Crowes in concert even though I missed out on Bonnaroo.

I found a boyfriend at VBS who not only wears cowboy boots, but watches the Dukes of Hazard!

I shot things.

I hung out with Sophia and Sweet Baby James

I went to the Bonsai place on the way back from Florida!

My little brother got a new car!

And I did a lot of sitting around in jeans and cowboy boots!

That's about all that went on in southeast alabama this summer!

I GET TO SEE FOO FIGHTERS AND WEEZER IN 3 DAYS!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God has blessed me so much.  I have amazing friends and roomates and family.  This summer I got to thinking about change a lot.  I am one of those people who struggles with my "comfort zone".  I find it easy to just give in to mediocracy and stay stagnant.  It would be so easy to move back home, get married, have kids, live near my parents, go to little league games, and lead that type of life.  But I know that change is inevitable.  I know that comfort doesn't equal peace or that easy living doesn't mean I am in God's will.  I want the kind of life that I feel God has called me to.  One that is full and abundant.  One that people look at and see passion.  I want a life full of love and adventure and selfless giving.  I do not want to become stagnant.

Today was one of those perfect days where I feel so in tune with God and with the flow of his love.  Allison Drake and I sat on the balcony and watched the sun fade and the sky go from blue to pink to orange to black.  I ate pop ice and listened to Nick Drake and The Shins and Aretha Franklin and the Foo Fighters and Patsy Cline.  I thought about how each night God paints a different sunset.  I thought of him as an artist, dipping his fingertips in paint and swirling the clouds and colors around to create this beauty for us to get a glimpse of His glory.  Every day, he changes things.  The sunsets, the sky.  People are born and they die and they grow.  There is nothing more that I can do than to listen to him and go where He takes me.  And there is beauty in this change.

A couple of weeks ago, I heard Donald Miller speak and he read the author's note from his new book..."Through Painted Deserts".  It reaffirmed everything I had been thinking.  I feel like God is preparing me for something and I don't know what....but that's okay with me.  I like the excitement of uncertainty.  Anyway....this writing gave me chills....

"No, life cannot be understood flat on a page. It has to be lived; a person has to get out of his head, has to fall in love, has to memorize poems, has to jump off bridges into rivers, has to stand in an empty desert and whisper sonnets under his breath:

I'll tell you how the sun rose
A ribbon at a time... "

How true is that?  Sometimes I'm scared of falling into a pattern of mediocracy.  But, I want desperately to go jump off bridges, and find untraveled dirt roads, and explore decaying barns.....and live.

Maybe I'm rambling, and I don't make any sense to you.  Or maybe you understand what I'm saying.  But God has laid this idea on my heart and I had to get it out.  So take it as you will and be blessed.
